Tourists Gather to See the Danube at Record Low Water Levels

The unusually low water level of the Danube River has become a popular attraction in Budapest. Visitors are taking photos of sandbanks and rocks that are normally hidden beneath the river.

Experts warn that while the view is interesting, it is also a sign of a serious environmental problem. The continuing drought is affecting wildlife, river transport, agriculture, and water supplies across Hungary and other parts of Central Europe.
