Hungary Faces Water Shortage as Extreme Heat Continues

Hungary is facing one of its worst droughts in recent years. Water levels in the Danube River have dropped significantly due to weeks of hot and dry weather. Several regions have introduced water saving measures, while farmers are reporting serious damage to crops because of the lack of rainfall.

The low water level has also affected the operation of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, which uses the Danube for cooling. Officials are asking people to save water and electricity as the country continues to deal with the ongoing heatwave.
