After sixteen years, the National Assembly has elected a new speaker, and Kövér László’s successor has been chosen.

Ágnes Forsthoffer, a politician from the Tisza Party, was elected Speaker of the National Assembly with 193 votes in favor, 2 against, and no abstentions. László Kövér is stepping down from the position after sixteen years as speaker of the house.
