A Historic Night in Budapest: Hungary Celebrates a New Political Era

Budapest is preparing for one of the most significant political celebrations in modern Hungarian history tonight, as thousands of people are expected to gather in front of Parliament for the inauguration celebration of the country’s new leadership. The event follows the swearing in of Prime Minister Péter Magyar and the election of Ágnes Forsthoffer as Speaker of the National Assembly, marking the end of Viktor Orbán’s sixteen year political era.  

The celebration, often described by supporters as a “regime change party,” will take place at Kossuth Square in front of the iconic Hungarian Parliament building. Organizers expect a massive crowd, with music, speeches, light shows, and public gatherings continuing late into the evening.  

Supporters of the Tisza Party see tonight as more than a political celebration. For many, it represents hope for democratic renewal, stronger ties with Europe, and a new beginning for Hungary after years of political division. During the election campaign, the party attracted enormous public enthusiasm, especially in Budapest and among younger voters.  

According to international reports, several thousand people had already gathered around Parliament earlier today while the new members of parliament took their oaths. The atmosphere in the capital has been described as emotional, festive, and historic.  

Tonight’s event is expected to feature speeches from leading politicians, including Prime Minister Péter Magyar, as well as performances by Hungarian artists and appearances by public figures who supported political change in the country. Large Hungarian and European Union flags are expected to dominate the square, symbolizing the new government’s pro European direction.
