After the first meeting of the Tisza parliamentary group, it has been revealed who will serve as the first ministers in Péter Magyar’s future government.
Magyar once again confirmed that his soon to be formed government will operate with 16 ministries. Following the first informal meeting of the Tisza parliamentary faction, the prime minister designate announced seven ministries and their respective ministers:
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Anita Orbán
- Ministry of Finance: András Kármán
- Ministry of Economy and Energy: István Kapitány
- Ministry of Health: Zsolt Hegedűs
- Ministry of Defence: Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi
- Ministry of Living Environment: László Gajdos
- Ministry of Agriculture and Food Economy: Szabolcs Bóna
Anita Orbán made her debut in January as a foreign policy expert for the Tisza Party, which stirred significant reactions among politicians aligned with Fidesz. She previously served as a global executive at Vodafone and, in 2010, became Hungary’s traveling ambassador responsible for energy security.
András Kármán, previously known as the Tisza Party’s expert on budget and tax policy, served as State Secretary responsible for tax and financial regulation in the Orbán government between 2010 and 2011.
István Kapitány will oversee both domestic and foreign economic affairs. Often referred to as the “Hungarian Jockey Ewing,” the businessman previously served as a global vice president at Shell. Notably, his career began in an unconventional way he was discovered by a Shell employee at the Sugár shopping center at Örs vezér Square.
Zsolt Hegedűs, who gained widespread attention online for his “victory dance,” has been known as a ministerial candidate since December. He recently announced his first planned measure: the removal of facial recognition systems from hospitals.
Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi, former Chief of the General Staff, joined the Tisza Party in early 2025. Like Orbán and Kapitány, he has been heavily criticized by pro government media. He has repeatedly denied claims by government propaganda that a Tisza Party victory would result in Hungarian troops being sent to the Russian Ukrainian front. He also stated that conscription will not be reinstated, but trust with allies will be restored.
László Gajdos led the Nyíregyháza Zoo, which he founded, for 30 years. According to the Tisza Party’s official website, he is passionate about Native American novels and the city of Nyíregyháza.
Szabolcs Bóna, an agricultural engineer and CEO of Rábapordány Agricultural Ltd., became the Tisza Party’s agricultural expert last spring. In 2022, he was named Livestock Farmer of the Year, and in 2024, his company was awarded Sustainable Farm of the Year.
