Hungarian Competition Authority Imposes HUF 9 Million Fine Related to Popular Hungarian TikTok Influencer

The Hungarian Competition Authority (GVH) has found that several promotional posts by influencer Csenge Forstner did not clearly indicate their advertising nature. Due to these shortcomings, the GVH’s Competition Council issued a warning to the influencer and her family business, and required them to implement an internal compliance program.

At the same time, the GVH imposed a total fine of HUF 9 million on the companies selling the advertised products, as well as on the influencer agency involved in the case. The decision also provides guidance on proper advertising disclosures.

According to the GVH, multiple promotional posts by Csenge Forstner lacked adequate indication that they were advertisements. The authority warned both the influencer and her family business and mandated the introduction of a compliance program.

The HUF 9 million fine was imposed in total on the commercial partners and the agency involved.

The GVH launched its investigation in May 2024 against six Hungarian influencers and several advertisers. Based on a previous rapid analysis and additional data, the authority suspected that the influencers involved had not properly disclosed the commercial nature of their content.
