Gábor Dányi is no longer the deputy CEO of MÁV following the decision of the new Minister of Transport
Gábor Dányi is no longer the deputy CEO of MÁV following the decision of the new Minister of Transport and Construction. Dányi held the position for nearly two and a half years and previously served as a ministerial commissioner under János Lázár.
David Vitézy, Minister of Transport and Construction, has dismissed Gábor Dányi, the chief economic deputy CEO of MÁV, from his position, according to HVG.
Although the newspaper did not provide details about the ministerial decision, it recalled Vitézy’s statement a few days earlier on ATV’s program Egyenes beszéd, in which he said: “We will review the issues affecting MÁV, and based on this we will make decisions about the future structure of MÁV’s leadership.”
Gábor Dányi took up his position at MÁV on January 1, 2024, after his predecessor, István Virág, retired from active service. Dányi, an economist by training, previously held important positions in the Hungarian state administration among others, he served as deputy president of the National Development Agency and as deputy state secretary at both the ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office, where he contributed to shaping Hungary’s development policy. Until his 2024 appointment, he worked as a ministerial commissioner at the Ministry of Construction and Transport and as chairman of the board of MÁV Service Center Ltd.
