Viewers and fans were truly shocked by the unexpected announcement from Anna Peller and Mariann Peller: the sisters have said goodbye to RTL’s morning show Reggeli. Anna had been greeting viewers for ten years, while her sister had been doing so for nine, meaning they had long represented a sense of continuity in the magazine-style program.
They had been defining faces of Reggeli for years, so their departure came as a surprise to many.
The news arrived like a bolt from the blue, as neither the channel nor the hosts had previously hinted at the possibility of a farewell. Moreover, viewers did not expect that the broadcast on the 28th of the month would be the last time they would see them together on the show.
The confusion is understandable: Anna Peller had been a key figure for a decade, and Mariann Peller for nearly nine years. In their social media post, they cited their increasing workload as the main reason for leaving.
“Since 2020, we’ve truly realized that change is a constant part of our lives. We also knew that 2026 would likely be even more turbulent and exciting for us than previous years. Both of us felt a desire for change in our professional lives as well. That’s why we decided to take on one less ‘sweet burden,’ because so many tasks and opportunities have come into our lives Anna with series filming and more and more leading roles in theater, and me with building the content and platforms of my own ‘Lélekközösség’ things we had long wished for. But for some time now, we’ve clearly felt that we needed to let something go. It was a difficult decision, but waking up at dawn and greeting Reggeliviewers will no longer be part of our lives,” the sisters wrote in their joint post.
They declined to comment when contacted by our paper, but later spoke in detail about the reasons behind their departure in a video shared on RTL’s official platforms, and about how difficult the decision was.
“This was our last broadcast today. I have to say, we soaked it all in, we felt great, and we hope that the love we feel for this team and this show came across to the viewers as well. We’re not saying goodbye forever, of course, but we’re putting mornings aside for a while, because we realized you can’t ride multiple horses with one saddle. There are so many tasks and opportunities in our lives that, with heavy hearts, we had to let one go,” said Mariann Peller in the video, with Anna Peller adding to her thoughts.
