Eckü has issued an apology following an explicit on stage performance at the end of his set during Friday’s “Rendszerbontó” Grand Concert held at Heroes’ Square. After the incident, politicians from Hungary’s ruling Fidesz party voiced strong condemnation over what they had witnessed.
The rapper from the duo Hősök also personally apologized to Gergely Gulyás, whom he had mentioned by name alongside government affiliated propagandists during the performance.
On stage, Eckü made a vulgar and offensive statement directed at the minister and certain pro government media figures, which drew immediate backlash.
Gulyás responded during the concert, stating: “Hungary is not like this, and we do not want it to become like this.”
“I Apologize to Everyone”
“The election frenzy got the better of me yesterday please forgive me. I would like to apologize to everyone for the performance at the end of my show. It went too far; I didn’t think through the consequences. This behavior is not worthy of me as a performer or as a father. I would also like to apologize to Gergely Gulyás. Please don’t hate me I was somewhat carried away by the crowd and the many young people at Heroes’ Square. Something came out that I never intended to escalate into what it became. I sincerely apologize,” Eckü wrote.
