Attila Ambrus, famously known as Hungary’s “Whiskey Robber,” has found himself facing yet another difficult chapter at the age of 58. The mother of his children left him last August, taking their two children with her. The family home is now also up for sale, forcing Ambrus to once again draw on his resilience and adapt to an unexpected new reality.
This is far from the first time he has had to start over. Throughout his life, Ambrus has repeatedly faced major challenges and dramatic changes. The question now is where he can find the strength for yet another fresh start. According to psychologists, immersing himself in work may actually be a healthy way to cope with the situation.
Partner Left the “Whiskey Robber,” Family Home Also on the Market
Attila Ambrus’s life is so extraordinary that it inspired a feature film in 2017. His story is remarkable: growing up in difficult circumstances in Transylvania, he first pursued a career in professional ice hockey. While playing at a high level, he simultaneously carried out a string of notorious bank robberies between 1993 and 1999, committing a total of thirty heists.
Today, however, Ambrus faces a very different kind of challenge. Last August, his wife, Réka, left him and moved away with their two children. Their former family home is now being sold, marking the end of another significant chapter in his life.
At 58, the man once known for constantly reinventing himself must once again start from scratch. Although he and Réka continue to meet regularly for the sake of their children, the hundreds of kilometers separating them, combined with the reality of living alone, have presented him with a profound personal challenge.
