Singer Tóth Andi testified on Monday at the Metropolitan Court in the criminal trial of four defendants accused of drug trafficking. Tóth Andi herself was originally a suspect in the case, but after choosing diversion therapy meaning she agreed to participate in rehabilitation and addiction treatment she is now appearing as a witness. In her testimony, she admitted that she had purchased cocaine several times, paying around 30,000 forints per gram.
As previously reported, the dealers’ trial continued on Monday morning, with both Tóth Andi and ByeAlex appearing as witnesses. Other individuals involved in the case also spoke during the hearing, and details of their rather interesting testimonies can be read here.
Tóth Andi’s Testimony
Tóth Andi was questioned by the court after a recess in the hearing. At the beginning, at the judge’s request, the singer stated that she knew the first, second, and third degree defendants, and that she was on friendly terms with K. Sándor.
Regarding the drug trafficking case, the singer said she had approached K. Sándor for help obtaining cocaine, and that D. Hassan the first degree defendant in the case ultimately assisted with this.
“The two of them came to my house with the woman. I don’t remember which one I gave the money to. I can’t recall exactly how many times this happened or how much I paid, but cocaine was around 30,000 forints per gram,” Tóth Andi recalled.
The judge then read aloud the statement the singer gave during her interrogation as a suspect on February 8, 2023. In that statement, she admitted using cocaine and said that in 2022 she had consumed drugs on four or five occasions. It also emerged that communication with the Syrian man was often difficult because he spoke broken Hungarian.
The judge subsequently read out message exchanges between the singer and the defendants, which confirmed the earlier statements. K. Sándor and Tóth Andi repeatedly burst into laughter as they were confronted with the way they had arranged the acquisition of drugs and discussed their experiences with using them during that period.
During the police interrogation, Tóth Andi also stated that she wished to participate in diversion therapy a mandatory drug prevention and rehabilitation program lasting at least six months which she later completed. As a result, the singer avoided punishment and changed status from suspect to witness in the case.
The judge then asked the singer whether she had taken any medication that could have affected her memory. Tóth Andi replied that not regularly, but when she used drugs she would take Frontin in order to calm down and be able to sleep.
Responding to a lawyer’s question, the singer said she could not be certain, but according to her recollection she may have met the man and woman who supplied the drugs four or five times, and that these meetings lasted no longer than a minute.
The first degree defendant then stepped up to the microphone and declared that he had only met Tóth Andi once and did not understand why the singer was saying otherwise.
This was not the first hearing in the case. Tóth Andi’s name had already come up several times during the January court session. The first degree defendant, Syrian national D. Hassan, had previously told investigators that he had sold cocaine to her multiple times. In an earlier testimony, read aloud by Judge Dr. Czudarné Dr. Kisnémet Erika, it was stated that during their first meeting he personally handed her 4 grams of cocaine, for which the former X-Factor winner allegedly paid 120,000 forints.
