Dominik Szoboszlai Named to Special Dream Team as Liverpool Congratulates Him

Four of the ten matches in Premier League Matchday 34 had been played by Saturday, with Manchester City moving ahead of Arsenal at the top of the table. However, the Gunners could reclaim first place later today. Liverpool will also be in action, hosting Crystal Palace, with Dominik Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez, and Ármin Pécsi all included in the squad.

Manchester City secured a 1–0 away victory over Burnley on Wednesday thanks to an early goal from Erling Haaland in the fifth minute. Pep Guardiola’s side, now unbeaten in 11 matches, recorded their third consecutive win to climb to the top of the standings ahead of Arsenal. Both teams are level on 70 points with a +37 goal difference, but City have scored 66 goals compared to Arsenal’s 63. Mikel Arteta’s team will host Newcastle United today and are expected to have a good chance of returning to first place, although City still have a game in hand. Guardiola’s side will also face Southampton in the FA Cup semifinal later today.

Liverpool, currently fifth and occupying the final Champions League qualification spot, welcome 13th-placed Crystal Palace, who have already reached the UEFA Europa Conference League semifinals. Szoboszlai, Kerkez, and Pécsi are all expected to be part of the matchday squad. Both first choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker and backup Giorgi Mamardashvili are dealing with injuries. Mamardashvili was forced off in the 58th minute of Liverpool’s 2–1 away win against Everton last weekend, with Freddie Woodman replacing him. Woodman is expected to start again today, while Pécsi is likely to be named on the bench once more. Speaking at Friday’s press conference, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot praised the 21 year old Hungarian goalkeeper, who has been developing with Liverpool’s U21 side, saying he would feel completely calm if he needed to use him in today’s match.

Szoboszlai Receives 94 Rated Ultimate Team Card

Dominik Szoboszlai also received special recognition yesterday, with Liverpool congratulating him on X. Every year, EA Sports releases the strongest teams from the world’s top leagues in FC 26 Ultimate Team, and this year Szoboszlai earned a place in the Premier League Team of the Season starting XI.

The Hungarian national team captain received a highly versatile card that can be used in four different positions and carries an impressive overall rating of 94. His stats include 91 pace, 94 shooting, 94 passing, 96 dribbling, 85 defending, and 90 physicality. Szoboszlai has already received several excellent cards in the past, but supporters are likely to consider this his best one yet.

He is the only Liverpool player included in the starting lineup of the Team of the Season, while Virgil van Dijk (95) and Hugo Ekitiké (93) were named among the substitutes.
