Dénes Dibusz Not Surprised by National Team Omission

Ferencváros goalkeeper Dibusz Dénes admitted he was not surprised to be left out of the Hungarian national team squad for the March friendlies and would not be shocked if he remained excluded in June as well.

“I didn’t expect an invitation. It was completely clear that this was not the right time” Dibusz said in an interview with Hungary’s public media. “If I look at the bigger picture, it’s also obvious that squad selection now has to focus on the coming years.”

The 35-year-old, who has earned 47 caps for Hungary, acknowledged that head coach Marco Rossi is prioritizing the next generation as the team builds toward future competitions. The European Championship qualifying campaign will only begin next year, giving younger players time to establish themselves.

“If I’m left out again in June, I won’t be surprised by that either,” Dibusz added.

Hungary recently recorded a 1–0 victory over Slovenia and a goalless draw against Greece, with Tóth Balázs,currently considered Rossi’s first choice goalkeeper starting both matches.

Hungary will play two more friendly matches in June, hosting Finland at the Puskás Aréna before facing Kazakhstan in Debrecen, as preparations continue for the autumn UEFA Nations League campaign.
